The Census Bureau uses what is known as Geocoding when creating the on-line questionnaire. Here is a brief description on Geocoding.
This geographic location is either a latitude/longitude coordinate or a Census Tract and Block. It is the geographic location of the housing unit that is used for data tabulation, not the mailing address. So if a housing unit is located within the legal boundary of Delanco, NJ, the housing unit will be tabulated to Delanco, NJ - even though their mailing address may have a different town name.
It’s very important for New Jersey that every resident gets counted, regardless of age or immigration status. Our Congressional representation depends on it. Over $1 trillion in Federal funding is allocated nationally based wholly or in part on Census counts. In these challenging times, it is especially true that continued funding for healthcare, health insurance, and emergency response resources is critical. Let's make sure that New Jersey gets its fair share by achieving a complete count of all our residents.
You can fill out the Census online or by phone in any of 14 languages (English, Spanish, Mandarin, Cantonese, Vietnamese, Korean, Russian, Arabic, Tagalog, Polish, French, Haitian Creole, Portuguese, Japanese) and TTY/TDD by phone.
